The Capitol Building

In here, you get an up close and personal look at how America’s laws are formed, and why American politics can be viewed as so chaotic. Completed in 1800, the Capitol building is one of America’s most significant architectural marvels, with its famous dome weighing in at over 8,000,000 pounds. Guided tours can be arranged through your Senator or Representative, which will allow you not only the chance to learn about the Capitol and Congress but will let you meet your local political figure if you so desire.

 

The Smithsonian Museums

The next stop, as Holidays Lounge looks at Washington D.C. is a series of stops, eleven to be precise. These eleven stops on the National Mall are the Smithsonian Museums, a collection of historical artifacts, and other items from the Smithsonian Institution. The most popular museums to visit are the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of American History, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The National Zoological Park can also be a great way to spend an afternoon. Not only are all of these museums nearby, but they are all free to visit, as a gift to the people of America.

The Monuments

Finally, Holidays Lounge looks at the many monuments in Washington D.C. There are so many impressive monuments to choose from, but probably the best to visit would be the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, and Korean War Memorial. There are over fifty different memorials in Washington D.C., and it is best to pick and choose the ones that you want to visit, as it will make it easier for you to access them. Guided tours are offered at all of these to let you learn more about their history and construction.
